What is Pilates?

Pilates is a body restoration system first developed by Joseph Pilates to help recovering soldiers of World War 1. He then worked in the United States with dance professionals recovering from injury. Joseph published his first book in 1945 which he titled “Return to Life through Contrology”. A system that will

Instructor

Sessions are taken by Graham Hollingsworth. "I was recommeded to try Pilates by a Fitness Instructor as I had suffered for a number of years with sciatica and lower back pain. I can honestly say that Pilates has changed my life". I then spent 2 years studying a number of qualifications culmunating in the Advanced Diploma in Teaching Pilates from YMCA and membership of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS).

Book Classes

You can book individual sessions or you can book a place every week from 17 October through to 19 December and recieve a discount of 10%. If you would like to do the latter, please make sure you select all 10 classes before you check out and pay.

Pilates Classes

Pilates Classes are starting on Tuesday 17 October in the Dance Studio at York College YO23 2BB. You do not have to be a Student or Staff at the college.

  • Session Times are 5:15 to 6:15 pm and 6:45 to 7:45 pm.
  • Mixed Ability, Beginners welcome
  • £7 per session
  • Free Parking after 5pm
